I guess it's been a while since I updated. Things have been a bit crazy. First a few highlights, then on to some sharing:

* Kyan turned 7. We had a really fun Lego party.

* Amelie has moved into a big girl bed.

* Michael has been made permanent at work.

* Cameron and Amelie have started at daycare 2 days a week.

* 5 weeks until we go to Japan for our wedding anniversary holiday.

* The washing machine leaked all over the floor and our entire timber needs to be replaced.

* My vegie garden is almost finished. We are eating home grown lettuce, and tomatoes and eggs.

Doesn't sound like much, but we seem to be busy all the time.

And now some of my recent scrapping stuff.

I always have the best intention to keep this blog up to date, but there just never seems to be enough time, so here's the last month in a nutshell.

And here we go for a new month in the scrapping world.

The new White with a twist challenge is up at Scrapping Outback. Love the colour combo from Joanne: Grape, pink and green. I finally used up these papers that have been in my stash for ages, and I love the finished layout.

The new online class kit for August is up in the Scrapping outback shop. The class goes live ont he 15th of August, so get in now to get a kit.

The new August Monthly Mini kit is now available at A Crafter's Passion. This one is especially good value as you get an entire sheet of Bo Bunny glittered chipboard.

Catching Up.

Things have been quite busy around here lately. We have half a retaining wall, half a painted fence, and half a vegie garden. We now have a new washing machine after the last one self destructed a flooded the laundry. We have a new baby coming in the (extended) family...no, not me, an engagement, and a new job.

Amongst all that I have been doing lots of scrapping projects helping to run a competition, designing kits and teaching classes. I have become so behind in sharing these all in one place that I think I will spread it over a few days, perhaps focusing on one team at a time.

Let's start with Best Creation. Here are a few highlights.

Summer blog hop...it's Summer somewhere!

Well it's getting colder by the day here in Sunny Queensland, and I am sitting here with my little heater on, but over in California, the home of Best Creation, the Summer holidays are just beginning and so we are celebrating with a Summer Blog Hop.

So, you should have arrived here from Katarina's blog. If not, head back to the Best Creation blog to get all the instructions you'll need.

I have used some brand new release Splash Fun papers to create this fun layout from a family trip to the beach.

I love all the different ways the die cut papers can be used. On this I cut the inside away to create a frame, which I positioned slightly off the page. I used smaller photos so I could use two without cluttering my page. I cut and overlayed some wave shapes, and some individual water spurts for embellishments.

Best Creation has been partnering with Helmar adhesives..who I also design for, so naturally I used plenty of Helmar product on this. Being glittered papers, a slightly more durable adhesive is a good idea. Helmar 450 or premium craft glue are both perfect. I raised both my embellishments and photos on Helmar Zapdots.

New Kit reveal

I have just revealed the new Challenge kit for A Crafter's Passion. The shop is closed today because of the public holiday, but they will be available for pickup tomorrow, and we can take email orders now.

Welcome to another Challenge kit.Thanks to those who entered a layout for last month, we enjoyed seeing them. This month's kit would be perfect for Mother's Day layouts, with soft pastel blues and floral patterns. Not that you are restrictyed to that theme at all, just an idea.

This kit contains a sheet of navy cardstock, plus 3 sheets of co-ordinating patterned papers in pale blue florals.

We try to focus on a theme or technique for each of our hops and this time around we are all showing some interesting ways to use border punches. I have been using my punches heaps lately, and my favourite technique right now is paper pleating.

I used my favourite punch which is a Martha Stewart doily edge punch.

To create this technique, punch all the way along a strip of paper, then turn the paper and punch the other side as well. It works best of the pattern being punched lines up on each side of the strip. Score the strip at regular intervals, and fold. You can either do single folds in one direction, or as I have done here a slightly more complicated fold. I then layered this on top of another strip in a contrasting colour. I used the same punch on both sides as I did before, but didn''t fold.

Remember that all the folds will shorten your strip, so you may need to join a few together to span all the way across a page, or just make it look that way, by tucking it under your photos and elements on wither side as I have done.

Here's another example I did a couple of posts ago, using the same technique and the new Ballerina Princess line that you could win!

Today's catch up is some stuff I have done for A Crafter's Passion.

This was a class I designed for a few weeks back using brand new papers from Jillibean Soup.

And another class, again with Jillibean soup. I really like their new lines.

And a sneek peek of this weeks class, using Hello Lucious by Basic Grey. Cardstock and papers are included int he class fee (only $14). Bring or purchase your own embellishments. Call the shop to book in as places are limited.

Finally, here are the monthly kits. I think the main kit is sold out, but here are add on (mini kits) kits still available. It's such a beautiful kit.
This is the challenge kit. I believe there are still some available. Entires for the challenge close at the end of the month, but you are more than welcome to buy the kit and not enter a layout.

I had my March sketch layout picked up for publication, so I created another one for the Scrapping Outback forum. Really like how this one turned out too.

I also got another layout done with the March product kit for A Crafter's Passion.

I'm off to Rockhampton in the morning, so I will finally get to see the store for myself, and also meet my nephew for the first time. Hope to get a few photos of the store to share.

Best Creation Mini Book Blog Hop

Welcome to our Best Creation Mini Album blog hop.

Can I just start by saying that through both the last two blog hops, I received so many wonderful kind comments from everyone. Thank you so much. I read every single one of them and I am very grateful.

Now, let's get on with it. You should have arrived here from the Best Creation blog where you will have seen the step by step instructions for creating this little album that was such a hit as CHA. Now you will travel through all our DT blogs to see lots of different variations on this little project.

I made an album with pictures from one my second little boy was just brand new. I've scrapped all this pictures before, but it was nice to go back and look at them all again. These papers are from an older collection, and I just love all the cute little animals, especially that big zebra. The pockets are made from a cut up doily.

For the pages, I used Helmar acid free adhesive, then I used Helmar 450 quick dry adhesive (my favourite) to adhere all the embellishments. I also used some Helmar Zapdots as always to lift my elements off the page, including my matted photos.

New stuff to share

Have been very busy scrapping, but haven't had time to share much on here. Have plenty to show, so will try to update over a few days.

These ones are all for Scrapping Outback. All the new challenges went up on the first, and you have until the end of the month to enter and earn store credit.

First up is the sketch challenge, which was designed by me this month.

Best Creation Flower Blog Hop.

I love handmade flowers of all kinds, but today I am sharing with you my very favourite one. These are called Kusudama flowers, and they are a form of Japanese origami. I must make it clear that this is not something that I invented. Japanese paper artists are far more clever than I am. I will however take you through the steps to creating this flower. Something to keep in mind is that this is a very bulky flower when finished. It's not really all that suitable for layouts, but is perfect for beyond the page projects and display items, as you can see on my finished frame.

For this flower I used Best Creation Basic Glitter Dot paper. Becasue the paper is so nice and thick, some of your folds will be a little bulky, but well worth it in the end. The key is precision. The better your folds, the neater your final flower will be.

Step 1:Begin with 5 squares. Mine are 3 inch/7cm.
Fold diagonally in half.

Step 2: Fold each of the bottom corners to join at the center point.Step 3: Take one side and fold back in itself in half. Repeat on the other side. Step 4: Open out the flap you just made and flatten down., to create a kite shape. Do the same on the other side. Step 5: Fold over the top of the kit shape. Be sure to get a neat sharp edge here as this will be the part of the petal you see most.

Step 6: Fold the side flap back onto itself towards the middle. It will start to become quite bulky now.

Step 7: Now gently bring the two inner sides to meet and glue. be sure not to crease the outer shell of your petal. I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry adhesive as it dries fast so I am not hanging around holding it in place. Do make sure it is completely dry before moving on.Step 8: Now repeat the process until you have 5 matching petals. One at a time, glue together along the long edge of the petal. Continue until you have one whole flower. Keep the petals tight together while drying. Because the glitter paper is so thick, you are unlikely to get all the centers meeting up exactly and may have a hole through the center of your flower. You can leave the flower is, or as I have done, finish off with a smaller paper flower, or even a button.All that is left now is to attach is to your project.

A bunch of these flowers can be joined to make a ball decoration. They could also make a great garland.

Helmar blogging

Here are a few things that i have created for the Helmar blog lately. This first one was actually part of my submission, but has just now gone up on the blog.

This next project is one that I made for little Amelie. It was a lot of fun to make, and didn't take anywhere near as long as I expected.

Meanwhile, Kyan started grade 1 yesterday. He was totally fine with it. He is in a 1/2 class which I think could be really good for him academically. Here's my little (big) first grader

One last thing, for those of you who use my sketches, I have finally gotten around to moving them all over to a new facebook page. You can see a box over on the right hand side there that will take you there if you are interested. Still all free, just an easier place to manage them. New sketches will be posted there.

New online class at Scrapping Outback

A New Scrapping Store.

For those of you who don't know, my mother has recently taken over ownership of a scrapbook store in Rockhampton in central QLD called A Crafter's Passion.

The previous owner had some personal issues which prevented her from keeping the store up to date, so Mum is currently putting in lots of time and effort to freshen up the store and re-stock with lots of brand new stuff. Classes have re-commenced, and a brand new challenge kit is starting today. She hopes to have have full product kits available from next month.

Here is the January challenge kit. The kit is only $10 (+$6.95 P&H). Papers are so very pretty. They are Lilac House from Fancy Pants.

Helmar Holiday Hop.

Welcome Everyone to our first Annual Helmar Holiday Hop

I have made for you a lolly tree which will be the centrepiece for our desert on Christmas day. Each person coming has their own little spot on the tree. The bottom layer has jelly bean lolly bags. The middle layer has mini lolly boxes, and for the top layer, I have made little cupcake holders, filled with chocolates.

I have used gorgeous Christmas papers from Helmar Preferred partner (and fellow Design Team company) Best Creation. How perfect that the papers are all pre-glittered. Saves me lots of time that I would have otherwise spent glittering and waiting to dry.

For this project I have used a combination of adhesives, depending on which part of the project it is. I have used:

Helmar adhesive tape runner: to construct my little boxes, and for the ribbon, and paper strips.

Helmar 450 Quick dry adhesive: For layering paper flowers.

Helmar Scrap dots: For attaching all the hand cut flowers.

Shape them, then layer together with Helmar zap dots. Adhere them to the candles, along with some spiral and punched flowers.

Oops, I'm a few days late with these, but the challenges go for the whole month, so it's all good.

I had the sketch challenge this month. it was really nice to create a sketch again. It's been a very long time.

I also had the DT mini kit this month, which had very pretty Prima flowers with multicoloured paper flowers. I made some cute little quilled butterflies out of the patterned paper.

You have until the end of the month to complete the challenges and upload to the SO gallery to earn store credit.

Best Creation Prettiness

This is a layout that I did for Scrapping Outback a little while ago, that is also featured on the Best Creation blog today. See here. It's a little hard to tell but it is actually a shaped layout, the brown is not part of the layout.

I also got an acceptance today for a layout to go into Scrapbook News and Review Magazine (online publication), so I'm a bit excited about that too.

I hate to do it, but I have had so many stupid SPAM messages coming through, that I am going to have to put comment moderation on. For any one of my scrapping friends, if you look at your glue supplies, you will almost certainly have something with the name Helmar on it. Well, I have been lucky enough to have been asked to join their Australia branch of their design team. We'll be working along side the US design team,. and the Educator design team, so now there are 22 of us all up, and it already feels like it is going to be a really fun team to work on, AND they are partners with Best Creation, my other US Design Team, which works out just perfectly.

Scrapping Outback Design Team

So, I was asked by Rach and San over at Scrapping Outback to be a guest designer for September, I really enjoyed my time there, and they must have liked my stuff as they have asked me to stay on for another 6 months, which of course I said yes to.

First Best Creation projects

My first projects have now been up on the Best Creation blog. The first collection we have been asked to work with is Autumn Splendour. It's very pretty so full of glitter, but th best part is that the glitter is embossed onto the papers so they will not come off all over your desk.

This month I am the guest designer for Scrapping Outback. I got a great Fancy Pants boy kit to work with, and came up with these layouts.

Also, I was to set a challenge: Your challenge is to create a boy themed layout, BUT as an added twist, you must add some sparkle to your layout without compromising the masculine theme of your page.

An exciting email

I was very pleased to get an email this morning, to say that I have made it onto the Best Creations design team. For those of you who may not know them, they are a US manufacturer, and make really cute glittered papers. There are 14 of us on the team, and 8 are international, so that's pretty cool. I'm looking forward to getting to know the rest of them team, and getting started with their products. Should be fun.

This week was the final round of the Embellish this competition. I was a bit surprised to make it through, as I didn't go much on the challenge last week. It was a good challenge, but just not at all my style.

Will find out tomorrow who has won overall.

Scrapping Outback cybercrop

I recently signed up over at Scrapping Outback and have had a wonderful time catching up with lots of old friends there. Last weekend they held a cybercrop, and so I jumped on in there since it has literally been years since I was involved in a cybercrop, and even then, I would have been running it rather than playing along. I didn't get all the challenges done, but here are a few I did complete.

The other great thing, is that I have been invited to be their guest designer for September, so I am looking forward to that.

In home life, Amelie is now 6 months old. She has her first tooth and is more or less crawling. Clever Kyan and cute Cameron

Kyan was very lucky enough to get a new bike for this birthday from his grandparents. Michael took the training wheels off after only a few days since he has been using his balance bike for so long to get ready, and so on the second day, Kyan is able to ride a "big boy" bike all by himself. He is very proud of himself.

And not to be outdone by his brother, here is Cameron doing what he does best... just being cute.

Amelie Laura

Here she is finally. Amelie Laura was born on July 3rd, weighing 6 lb 12 oz. The c-section went smoothly. My recovery has taken a little longer this time around, hence the delay in posting, I haven't been able to spend much time on the computer.

The boys have both taken to her really well. We were pretty sure Kyan would, but had no idea how Cameron would react. He is quite fascinated by her, and spends a lot of time just looking at her. He is very sweet by giving her a dummy when she is crying.

Sleep is fairly intermittent still. She sleeps quite well during the day, but has a little trouble settling sometimes after night feeds.

Time for an update.

We've had lots of people checking in on us as our baby day gets closer, so I figured an update was in order.

We are booked in for a c-section ths Friday morning, so we will have our new little girl by the weekend. Michael will get all the details up on facebook/twitter as soon as he can, so check there for the news. I'll be in hospital until mid next week, so I will post some pics here when I can.

Kyan is very excited about meeting his new little sister. Cameron is completely oblivious. The baby room is almost ready. I just need to get Michael to put up the new curtain rod, and a few little bits and pieces, and we will be done. It's very pink. will post a picture when it is finished.

I've also been busy trying to get some Kaiser layouts done before I'm away. I got all 6 new collections last week or so, and they are amazing. The new packaging is very cool too. Everything comes in re-usable ziplock bags. I've finished 4 layouts using hte new stuff but can't share just yet. Should be able to to soon though, so check back soon.

I know a few poeple who check here haven't seen the boys for a while, or even any photos of them, so here are a few recent ones. Kyan is doing great at daycare, and really loves it. His asthma has improved hugely now that we have tried a new medication. Cameron is getting cuter everyday. He still doesn't say much, but seems to be trying to at least.

From November

It's been a very long time since I have been on here, but with the move and everything, time has gotten away, so I am trying to do a few catch up posts now.

The move back was fine. We were without our stuff for a long time though, so the house was very empty for a few months. It all finally arrived just before I went back to work, so it wa a long process to get it all set up, but we are pretty much there now.

I have been back at work for a term now teaching dance and visual arts which is fun but exhausting.

I think everyone already knows this, but just as we got home I discovered I am pregnant again. The best part is that is it a girl this time. I have about 12 weeks to go.

We have our first trip back to America booked in for September. We'll be going to LA, New York and North Carolina. Can't wait to see our friends and go to our favourite restaurants.

The tourist thing

When we first cam here we kept looking at all the sites and planning all the things we wanted to get back to take "good" photos of. We kept thinking we have plenty of time. Well, we now have 3 weeks left, so I have spent much of the weekend out visiting all the iconic New York spots to make sure we have photos to take back with us. I am exhausted and sore from carrying all the gear, but I think I have some good shots. Some are typical tourist shots and there are a few (hopefully) artistic ones as well. Here are a few highlights.

It's obviously been a long time since I blogged. I've been very busy, and today is so exception, so a very quick update from me.

Michael had a job in upstate NY this past few days so he arranged for us to go with him and visit Niagara Falls. It was kind of last minute. I expected the have the net but didn't so now I am a bit behind. I'll be back to post some pictures though.

Meanwhile CHA is on this weekend. It has come up so fast. Lucky I didn't forget to go. Can't wait to meet Jess while I am there as well as see Lynn and Linda and Holly again plus a few others. I once again got the opportunity to do Design Team work for The Crafters Workshop doing layouts for the show with their new templates. They are even better agaon and I had a lot of fun with them. I didn't realise when I wrote my last post that I made the reasons for us coming home sound a bit ominous, and I've made people worry. There is absolutely nothing wrong. Without going into the specifics, we have decided to come home for a few reasons. Financial being one of them, but also Michael's career path and some opportunities that he has been offered back home, plus Kyan's schooling. All of the factors combined make it better for us to be in Brisbane. Although we would love to have stayed another year, there are lots of good reasons for coming home too, so now that the decision is finally made we can start looking forward to a plentiful supply of meat pies and cheese twisties again.

Meanwhile Kyan is a bit sick at the moment. He has asthma which has flared up over the weekend, so he is in hospital at the moment. He is doing much better though and hopefully they will let him come home today. It's been pretty tiring for Michael and I. We don't want him to be there by himself, so we've had one of us there at all times and one of us home with Cameron and we switch whenever one of us gets weary. They have a sleeper lounge in his room though, so that has made it easier, but when Kyan is awake we have been working hard to entertain him without getting him too worked up. Not an easy task for an active 3 year old.

Anyway, just wanted to put everyone's mind at ease. Thanks for your concern. It's good to have friends who worry about us. I better have a shower and swtich shifts with Michael.

An update finally

Yes, I know it's been a while. I feel like I am still catching up from being back in Australia. There is lots to update on so I'll try to be organised.

Family
The biggest and latest news is that we have decided to head back to Australia. It's not exactly what we wanted to do yet, but given our current circumstances it is the most sensible thing to do. We are looking at going in Mid November, so that gives us 6 months to make he most of New York. One thing we are doing is really ramping up on our photograpy so we have lots of good shots to take back. Here's some of The Brooklyn Bridge I took a few weeks ago:

Cameron is getting bigger all the time. He's happily eating solids and plenty of it. He rolls onto his tummy all the time, and can push himself up on his hands and knees and rock back and forward. He gets cuter every day. Here's a pic. This one is a few weeks old. Will try to take some new ones today.

He also has a tooth starting to poke through.

Kyan:
Kyan's asthma is giving him some problems at the moment but other than that he's good. His playgroup finishes next week. He didn't get into pre-K, but that doesn't really matter now. We are putting him Summer camp a couple of afternoons a week just to keep up the social interactions. We are also going to try to get him into swimming lessons.

New York
It's Summer here and Good Morning America have been running concerts in the park. We went along last week to see Cindy Lauper. Here's a pic that Michael took.

2CC has their 2nd birthday this month. There is a big crop next weekend. It starts with a live chat Friday night NY time. The challenges will all be announced then. We are back in Australia on our yearly home leave trip. I've been catching up with lots of people which has been great but tiring. I got to meet Kerryn and Trudi on Friday which was awesome. They are both so sweet and it was so nice to meet them since I have known them online for such a long time. I got to see a couple of layout in real life too. They always look different than in pictures. Both Kerryna nd Trudi do amazing work. Time to lift my game a bit I think.

I had my hight school reunion on Saturday night which was incredibly strange but a lot of fun. It was great to see my good friend Leisa and her beautiful new baby. I also got to see lots of old friends which was really nice.

Lots of people have been saying that they keep an eye on my blog. I didn't know if people were still visiting since i've been so busy and therefore slack, but it seems they are, so please leave me a comment, so I know you were here and I promise to update more often.

We are off to Australia on Friday for about a month. I hoep to see as many people as I can while we are home. I have so much to do before we go though, so I better get back to it.

General update

We booked our flights for our trip home. I'm looking forward to eating a lot. We can't wait for meat pies, lamb sandwiches, silverside, sausages, ice break (that's for Michael) chocolate of course, and I'm sure plenty of other things too. I have my good friend Nic's weddinig while we are there, as well as my high school reunion. No idea what I will wear to either yet. I'm looking forward to seeing my friends Tania and Leisa from school. Kyan is counting the sleeps til he gets to see all his grandparents, and I'm sure they are equally as anxious, especially since 3 out of 4 of them have not met Cameron yet. The boys are both good, althoguh Cameron is having a bit of a whinge fest at the moment. I wonder if he is having a growth spurt.

I headed out to take a few photos today. It's definitely getting towards Spring. I found lots of flowers to take photos of. I'll upload them to my photography blog over the next few days once I have had a chance to edit them.

I have been busy trying to get lots of jobs done now beofre we go away. I've put a couple of new classes up at MCC.They are both projects and I have special offers on both of them at the moment. Kyan has been doing more and more artwork lately. I'm trying to do some with him plus he does some at playgroup and at the Y, so I am putting together an art journal for him. Each time he brings something home, I photograph it and am putting together an album. It wont be scrapped. Just photos with a label. I've been doing some for a friend as well, and hope to do some more around the place.

Just a quick post to let you all know that I have opened up a new class at www.mycreativeclassroom.com It is using my sketches for card making. Don't forget that Aussie's can play too, since you complete the class in your own time.

Cameron is doing well. He smiles whnever he sees us, and even if we ask him to a lot of the time. He is starting to giggle a little bit.He's not sleeping right through the night, but he does go straight back to sleep after his feed. Kyan started Playgroup last week, so that he can hang out with some kids his own age. He seems to like it so far, especially since they have Thomas toys there.

Michael is currently on his way to Cape Canaveral. He had to go to Florida for work, and it turned out that they happen to be launching a space shuttle tonight, so he is very excited. It's something he has always wanted to see. He's taken all the camera gear, so hopefully he will have something to show for it when he comes back.

2CC March kit.

The new DT have started at www.2croppincousinz.com and they ahve done a great job with the kit this month. Here are my offerings. The layouts are part of an 8x8 mini album all about Michael, which I made just by tying some page protectors together. The 3D elements are all on the outside of the plastic protectors.

We have made some changes to the forum, with a new kit area. If you haven't been over to the site for a while, come and check it out. There are a stack of new sketches there too.

My countdown calendar class at [url]www.mycreativeclassroom.com[/url] will be closing soon with the class starting on Monday. You don't need a particular kit for this one.

For those who haven't checked out the format of MCC, the classes are online, but are not like most where you have to be online at a particular time. Sections will be revealed one at a time and you simply jump online and complete each part when it suits you. Gotta love the kind of flexibility.

The calendar is built on chipboard pieces for strength and you have the option to add ribbon to the top to hang it on a wall. Here's a pic:

The elusive smile

Cameron has been smiling for quite a while now, but it's been really tricky catching it with the camera. This is the closest I have gotten so far, plus another one that turned out to be a pretty nice photo. Of course, the smile is cuter than that really. Will keep trying to get better photos.

2CC February kit.

As always 2CC did an awesome kit for February. Here's what I did with it:

I also made the altered gameboard with this kit for my MCC class. So the idea is to go to www.mycreativeclassroom.com and sign up for my class, then go to www.2croppincousinz.com and get the kit. You would want to be quick though, as the kits often sell out. In addition any 2CC board members who sign up for the class go in the running for a $15 gift voucher generously donated by the cousinz.

Don't forget that 2CC also have their DT call for 2008 open at the moment, but entries have to be in by Feb 6th.

My Creative Classroom - Grand opening

My Creative Classroom (MCC) has official kicked off this week. There is a whoel week of live chats, challenges, prizes and free classes. All you need to do is go to www.mycreativeclassroom.com sign up for the newsletter and you will receive an email with the enrolment key for the classes.

I am not a photographer by any stretch of the imagination, but I have been trying to get a few photos of the boys the last few days. I am also no good at photo shop, so you will probably see a lot of things wrong with these.

Exciting News

After months of work, I am finally able to offer my first class at My Creative Classroom. It is an advent style countdown Calendar that can be customised for any occassion for use throughout the year. All the details are on the website at www.mycreativeclassroom.com but here is a teaser for you here:

Enrollment is open right now, and I would really love to see lots of people come over and at least check it out, but better still sign up.(pretty please) I will be adding more classes soon. If you are interested, all you have to do is be sure to register for the site (free) then look under courses. You can look for my class in altered art, but as time goes by and I add more, you can simply use the search function for my name. Under my course desciption, you will see a "buy it now" button that will take you to paypal.

In case you are wondering, anyone can do this class, no matter where in the world you are. It is also suitable for all skill levels. Even if you are not a scrapbooker, you can do this class!

Just updating with a few more photos. They haven't been edited yet. This is the first time I have even had a chance to look at them. Cameron is doing fine. I'd like him to feed a little better, but he is putting on weight, so that's OK.

Home for Christmas.

Last night Michael brought Cameron and I home from the hospital. Cameron was born on Saturday night at 10:42pm by c- section. He weighed 7 lb 2oz. He is the spitting image of his brother at the same age. Kyan is excited about his brother, but also I suspect figuring out how to make sure he still gets all the attention. He loved visiting him inthe hospital.

We were due to be booked in for the ceasarean this coming Friday, 3 days before his actual due date of the 25th. I had a few pains during the night on Friday night but nothing I gave a second thought to. I had some more twinges on Saturday monring, but still managed to get out to buy a Christmas tree, have lunch and show Mum around China town before giving up and heading home. On the way home, it was becoming more apparent that maybe something wasn't quite right. We couldn't get a cab so persevered the bus ride home and called the Doctor, who said to come in to the hospital, and he would deliver us whether it was labour or not since we were so close anyway.

The contractions were pretty awful, but they had to let them happen so they could get a trace reading. They did give me some medication to stop them after a while, although it didn't last long. We finally headed into theatre and had our little boy. We then spent forever in recovery. Even after we were cleared from recovery, it took another 2 or so hours to get moved to the ward, so Cameron was a good 6 hours old before we got to have him again, which I was really not impressed with.

Our Dr was awesome, but the rest of the hospital left a lot to be desired. It was certainly no Sunnybank private, hence me coming home so early. I had the first couple of nights to myself which was really nice and had an amazing view of New York Harbour from my bed, but then on Day 2 I was unlucky enough to get a roommate who put her TV on the moment she arrived and still had it going loudly when we left. That comnibed with her snoring and constant complaining, made it a not very restlful place to recover, so I got myself discharged early. Our first night home, was very broken with Cameron needing to be fed so often, but I still got a far better rest than I was getting at the hospital. Not to mention that when I need help here, I actually get it rather than staff who I'm sure are competent at their job, but many of which do not normally work at that hospital so don't know the procedures, or just didn't really care all that much.

So, we are tired, but home in plenty of time for Christmas. Feeding is going well, although painful as expected. Today we have to decorate the tree and take some family photos. I've just heard the sound of a nappy being filled from the other side of the room, so I guess my break time is over.

For all those who have sent lovely emails, we'll return them as soon as we can manage a bit of time.

I am 32 now. One of the good things about the time difference between here and Australia is that birthdays seem to go for 2 days. I got lots of emails and messages over the two days which has been really nice. I had a quiet day today, although I did have to go out this afternoon to do a boring job and got stuck int he snow yet again. Michael and Kyan took me out for dinner which was really nice. I got a gold bracelet from Michael and Kyan which matches the necklace that they gave me last year. I'll try to take a photo over the weekend.

No baby news, which is good. I wouldn't want him to have to share his birthday with me. He should have one all of his own. I'm starting to feel it though. I was only out for a couple of hours this afternoon, and by the time I got home again I was destroyed. It doesn't help having to wear even more wieght in jackets and gloves etc, and having a toddler in tow. I'm sure I can manage another week and a half.

School Lotteries.

I've had a few people mention lately that they have been keeping up with my blog, so I am going to try to get better at updating. Please leave me acomment if you come though, otherwise I assume no-one is reading it, and it is harder to make myself keep it up to date.

No baby yet. Not much sleep either thanks to him wriggling around all over the place. I see the Dr again on Monday and so I will push for him to book in a date for us. Mum come next Thursday, so once she is here to look after Kyan we don't mind too much when it is. If he comes early, Michael may well have to miss the whole thing as he will have to look after Kyan.

I took Kyan to a school open house today. It seems like a strange time of year to be doing it, but everything is backwards here. The schools have pre-K here for 4 year olds. It would be perfect for Kyan as he desperately wants and needs to go to school. I guess it is like pre0school at home. It's not compulsory, so there are not enough places for everyone. The school is only a 5 minute walk away, which is great, but I understand that about 100 sets of parents will register for only 18 spots. It is then drawn as a public lottery, so if he isn't lucky on the day, he has to wait a whole other year.

We had snow again yesterday which was nice, except were out in it. So I had Kyan in one had, bags of shopping onthe other hand, and had to wait on the snow for the bus. Not ideal. It's much more fun to watch it from inside the house.

New challenge and family update

Onto family stuff. It snowed for the first time yesterday. It was quite a dumping too. Michael and Kyan went to the park and took some really great photos. Michael is still editing them at the moment, but will probably share some on his blog when he is done. Kyan was beside himself with excitment, and came back very cold, but he didn't seem to care at all.

Had another check up at the Dr today. The baby is fine. Just sitting around doing not much apart from kicking me. Still don't have a date set for the hospital yet, but it should be soon, certainly within the next two weeks. As long as he can wait until Mum comes next week to look after Kyan, I don't mind when he comes.

This is a collection of layouts I have done for a custom album for a friend of mine. Obviously since it is an entire album, the individual pages are not as elaborate as my DT pages. I am happy with the overall effect of the album though. I used Cloud 9 papers and embellishments which was a perfect range for a little boy album. Now onto the girl one for his sister. I've mentioned this before, but here is another reminder:

I AM A Scrapaholic's new Out From Behind the Camera Challenge Series is designed to help you scrap more about yourself. You may create an album all about you just for you; you may just want to add your layouts to your current albums, or a combination thereof. It’s entirely up to you. The most important thing is to get you into your albums, to celebrate you, and to leave an important legacy for your family. Remember the people you scrap about will also enjoy seeing layouts about you too!

Week by week we will help you with themes, sketches, samples and ideas to help you along the way. You will earn RAKs and discounts along the way. But, most importantly you will have layouts about you.

Each month will focus on a theme.

Each Monday a new challenge will be posted. The challenge will include a topic [subject] and a sketch exclusive to I AM A Scrapaholic for you to use (if you choose), and samples by the Design Team.

You can pick and choose the challenges you wish to complete. Each challenge you complete and upload to the gallery will earn you points. These points will accumulate and will earn you RAKs and discounts. See the Point System thread for details.

You are not obliged to participate every week, and there is no competitive element here, we want to see everyone joining in as much as possible no matter what your scrapping level or schedule.

Each week one of the DT members will choose a layout they love from the previous week to highlight. this person will receive an additional bonus point. A layout maybe chosen based on the overall design, the journaling, the photo, or for whatever reason the DT member chooses. We all have different tastes so it could be anyone and for any reason.

I have gotten so bad with my blog that it seems to have become a monthly thing. Oh well, better than never.

Baby
I'm 28 weeks now. Everythign is going fine. I do need to start setting up for him though.

Moving
We have moved to a new apartment. Still in the same neighbourhood, but with much mroe space now. It's really nice. We like it here.

Visitors
Michael's parents have just gone back home after being here almost a month. Kyan was obsessed with Grandma and no-one else existed, including me. We have just about gotten him back into routine now. Michael and I took the opportunity to go to Peurto Rico for a few days which was really nice. Michael's favourite part was going to the Bacardi distillery.

2Croppin Cousins
We are in week one of our monthly comp. It's going really well and the prizes are awesome. It's too late to join in, but we are having little mini comps each Friday night for the month, that anyone can join in and there are prizes for that too.

The most important thing is that it is Kyan's birthday. He is 3 today!!!! He's a little sick, so we are taking it easy today, then we will head to the park this afternoon for a picnic and some presents, then back home for some cake. I have made him a rocket cake from Little Eisnsteins. I love to make hm cakes, but I am not very good. I hope he will like it though. My hands are stained pink at the moment, from the frosting.

Second news. I have accepted a teaching position at My Creative Classroom. www.mycreativeclassroom.com This is a new site soley for online classes. The classes offered range lots of differnt crafts.I will have my own classroom and will be mainly focusing on beyond the page projects. I hope to start running classes in the next couple of months. I'm really looking forward to it. I hope that you will all come and try it out. International students are catered for of course.

It's been a week now and we have no ideas on boys names. We'd like something that is a little bit unusual like Kyan's names, but not something totally obscure and wierd that he has to explain for his whole life. Post a reply with some of your favouorite names to give us a bit of inspiration.

Baby news.

Well, I'm pretty sure everyone already knows that we are having a baby, so clearly that is not the news. We did however have an ultrasound today to do the general growth stuff and to try to find out the gender.

Both of us really wanted a girl, since we already have a boy, and I really felt like it was a girl. Must have been wishful thinking, as the little baby showed us very clearly that he is in fact a boy. Michael is pretty disapoointed, but I know he will get used to the idea. I'm OK with it. I would like it to have been a girl, but any baby is a good baby.

We got stacks of print outs from the ultrasound. I think she took pity on the fact that Michael had to miss out as he had to stay home with Kyan. I'll scan them in soon and upload a few more. Everything else looks good and healthy so that's good.

Meanwhile, Kyan continues to be very cute. Rather than recount the story again, check out Michael's blog (link on the sidebar) for a very funny story.

We have just sepnt the weekend in Florida at Walt Disney World. I'll update ont heat later when I have sorted through the photos.

These are some DT projects I have done for I am a Scrapaholic using the July kit.

For a number of reasons, I have decided to step down from my DT position at Scrapbook City, effective immediately. This will give me more time for a number of other things. I hope to be able to put some more effort into my sketch website. If you haven't already joined up, please do so. I have almost 50 members already. I also hope to spend some more time on some other scrapping ventures I have been working on.

We will be moving in a couple of months. We'll still be in the same general area, but in a much nicer part of the neighbourhood. We have found an apartment that I really like.

Here are my DT projects for 2 Croppin Cousinz. The kit was awesome as usual. Paper this month were Dutch Girl by Cosmo Cricket. The matching ribbons this month have been my favourite so far. The custom tags are pretty as always. I have a layout planned for those. We also got Hambly overlays, beautiful rubons and a very cute little glitter paper clip.
